Not many visitors to this small island just 7 miles across the Alalakeiki channel on the southwest side of Maui. The island has no airports, boat landings, drinkable water, or tourists. In fact, you need special permission to visit this island! Helicopter and boat are the only way to the island. However, in the latter case you generally get wet getting to shore, since no landings exist. The island is very dry and parched. Some arid vegetation grows on the island, Natal Bunch grass and Australian Salt bush are common sights. Much of the soil is a volcanic red cinder. Due to the lack of trees and mountains the island is very windy. This island is not our pick to visit but we have included it for information!
